A Non Performing Asset (NPA) is an account which has stopped yielding returns to the lender. A few stray transactions in the account cannot convert a NPA in to a performing Asset.

When the borrower does not deserve even sympathy
|
|
A borrower in debt and poverty deserves sympathy from one and all. The Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRT) have always shown sympathy and compassion in dealing with such matters. But there are instances when the DRTs have been forced to use harsh words against borrowers, express no sympathy and some times even pass adverse comments. This is particularly so when the borrower does not go before the Debt Recovery Tribunals with clean hands.

Commissioners are to protect interests of secured creditors

The RDB Act empowers the DRT to appoint a Commissioner to take inventory as well take into possession stock and other hypothecated properties and other securities. However the Presiding Officers should carefully weigh the need to appoint one. The appointment of a Commissioner is to protect the interests of the secured creditor.
